What is the

EVO ICL?

The EVO ICL is an implantable collamer lens that can correct nearsightedness and astigmatism. Unlike other vision correction procedures, it does not remove or reshape any part of the cornea to correct your refractive errors.

Instead, the EVO ICL is carefully placed between the iris and the natural lens of your eye during a quick, virtually painless procedure. Then, you can enjoy crystal-clear vision without the need for glasses and contacts almost immediately.

Why the EVO ICL Represents the

Next Generation in Vision Correction

Uniquely Biocompatible with the Eye
The EVO implantable collamer lens contains collagen and poly-HEMA, meaning your body will not recognize it as a foreign object. This advanced design makes it soft, flexible, and biocompatible, allowing it to integrate seamlessly with your eye.

Vision Correction Beyond Glasses or Contacts
Patients who choose the EVO ICL often experience better vision than they ever had with glasses or contacts. This is because the lens is placed so close to the eye that it produces sharper images.

It also offers more powerful vision correction than other procedures for patients with severe nearsightedness.

Completely Reversible
Because the EVO ICL is an additive lens, your eye doctor will not need to remove or reshape your cornea like they would for traditional procedures. To correct your vision, they will simply place the EVO ICL in your eye through an incision so tiny that it doesn't require any stitches to heal.

This also means the procedure is entirely reversible. You can enjoy peace of mind knowing that your eye doctor can remove the EVO ICL at any time and restore your vision to how it was before.

Safer for Thin Corneas and Dry Eyes
Due to the minimally invasive nature of the procedure, patients who may have been disqualified from LASIK due to thin corneas or dry eye have the chance to achieve visual freedom with the EVO ICL instead. It does not involve reshaping or removing any part of the cornea, reducing the risk of complications after the procedure, like developing dry eye.

UV Protection
Ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun can damage your eyes and contribute to the development of conditions like cataracts and age-related macular degeneration. The collamer material in the EVO ICL offers extra UV protection to help preserve the health of your eyes.

EVO ICL:

A Quick Procedure and Recovery

To prepare for the EVO ICL procedure, your eye surgeon will give you numbing eye drops, ensuring you'll be comfortable throughout the process. If you're experiencing anxiety about the procedure, they may also offer you a mild sedative for relaxation.

Then, they will make a tiny incision along the edge of your cornea. Your eye surgeon will fold the lens and insert it through the opening.

Once the EVO ICL is in your eye, it will unfold so they can gently adjust it to ensure proper positioning. The procedure takes only 15-20 minutes per eye and does not require any stitches to begin the healing process.

This fast, minimally invasive procedure represents one of the many advances that make the EVO ICL a state-of-the-art vision correction procedure. Recovery from the procedure is easy as well, with most patients able to return to normal activities within the first one to two days after. You will need to follow certain practices for the healing process, like:

  • Scheduling a ride to and from the procedure
  • Using prescription eye drops according to your eye surgeon's instructions
  • Not rubbing your eyes for at least three to five days following the procedure
  • Attending follow-up appointments with your eye surgeon

Many patients experience vision improvements immediately after their EVO ICL procedure, with their eyesight continuing to sharpen over the following days and weeks.
